I'm Kyle Kjorsvik, a senior DevOps engineer with over 20 years in software — originally as a developer, now focused on platform engineering. That path matters: I build infrastructure the way a developer would, with the same attention to interfaces, ergonomics, and not making other people's lives harder.
I care about boring, reliable systems. Good developer experience. Automating the toil out of operations so product teams can ship without thinking about the plumbing.
What I work on
Platform engineering — internal tooling, golden paths, and self-service infrastructure. CI/CD pipelines that are fast and trustworthy. Cloud and Kubernetes architectures sized to the actual problem, not the resume. Observability that makes systems legible before they break.
How I work
I learn by building. Not tutorials, not sandboxes — actual projects, end to end, in production or close to it. The projects on this site reflect that: each one is a deliberate vehicle for going deep on something real. I prefer simple, well-understood tools over novelty, and I'd rather delete code than add it.
I also run a homelab that's gotten out of hand in the best way — Proxmox, self-hosted Git, my own CI runners, a kubeadm cluster, and more services than I'd like to admit. It's where I break things on purpose before I break them at work.
Consulting
Under Stenvik Works I offer AWS infrastructure and CI/CD audits as fixed-price engagements. If your pipelines are slow, your infrastructure is undocumented, or you inherited something that nobody fully understands — that's the work I do.
